The old man looked into the dog\u2019s kind eyes. The dog wagged its tail softly and tugged gently at his coat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhat do you want, my friend\u2026\u201d Wilson whispered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dog didn\u2019t give up. It was calling him.

They were walking through the dark alleys of the city until the dog suddenly stopped. It barked twice \u2014 the sound echoing in the quiet night.
\u201cWhat is it? What\u2019s wrong\u2026\u201d Wilson muttered, bending down despite the pain in his knees.
\u201cFollow me\u2026\u201d The dog barked again. \u201cIf you don\u2019t come with me now, you\u2019ll freeze\u2026 I\u2019m leading you home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Within minutes, Wilson found himself standing in front of a small abandoned building. The dog pushed against the door with its snout and barked again. Inside was warmth, a faint smell of food, and a blanket on the floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSomeone lives here,\u201d Wilson said softly. \u201cI think it\u2019s you and me now, Benny. My house is gone, but my heart has found one again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wilson felt an unfamiliar calm and gratitude. The dog \u2014 perhaps sensing that it had done something good \u2014 lay beside the old man, resting its head on his knees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Days later, Benny\u2019s loyalty helped Wilson survive a severe snowstorm that could have easily taken his life.
