A girl in a simple skirt and an old blouse, in worn ballet flats and with a backpack on her back, entered the main office of a large company.
She stopped at the reception desk and calmly said:
— May I see your CEO?
The administrator sitting behind the desk gave her a disdainful look and replied coldly:
— We don’t have a vacancy for a cleaner.
— No, — the girl said quietly. — I’m here for another matter.
Behind her, the office employees began whispering and quietly giggling.
— What is she doing here? — someone hissed.
— Look what she’s wearing! That skirt must’ve belonged to her grandmother.
The girl didn’t react. She only lowered her head slightly and stood still, as if she hadn’t heard any of the poisonous comments.
— Excuse me, — she addressed the administrator again, — when will your CEO be able to see me?
— I’ve informed him about you, he’ll come out himself in a moment, — the administrator answered with a grimace.
A moment later, the elevator doors opened, and an elderly man in an expensive suit stepped out.
He immediately noticed the girl and, to everyone’s amazement, smiled broadly:
— Oh, Anna! I’ve been waiting for you for so long.
Silence fell over the office.
All eyes turned to the girl who had just been laughed at.
All the employees were shocked when they found out who this girl was

Anna nodded calmly, took a folder with documents out of her backpack and confidently said:
— Nice to meet you. I’ve already reviewed the company’s projects and I see where the work can be improved. Today we’ll discuss all the details.
There wasn’t a drop of arrogance in her voice — only calmness and professionalism.
And those who had just recently laughed were now standing with their eyes lowered, unable to say a word.
One of the employees attempted an awkward joke:
— We… we just didn’t know that you…
But the director cut him off with a strict look.
— Anna, — he said, — you have the right to organize the team however you see fit. If someone doesn’t meet your expectations, you may make the decision to dismiss them.
Anna nodded:
— Thank you. But I believe everyone here has a chance to prove that they can work not for the sake of appearances, but for the sake of results.
She shifted her gaze to those who had laughed the loudest.
— I hope this day will be a lesson for all of us. And the beginning of something new.
Anna opened the folder, placed the first documents on the table and calmly said:
— And now, gentlemen, let’s get to work.
