This elderly couple had been together for forty years. Their life was full of love, respect, and tireless hard work. They raised their children together, built a house side by side, and started their own business from scratch — which eventually brought them a good income. In their old age, they could afford to travel, meet friends, and pursue their passions. Every Monday they would go to their partner dance — it became their little tradition.
But one evening everything changed.
When the music slowed, the husband suddenly stopped dancing and, looking directly into his wife’s eyes, said in a calm but decisive voice,
“I want a divorce. I am tired of all this.”
The wife slightly raised her eyebrows but did not flinch.
“Why, honey?” “What happened,” she asked coldly and composed.
Her husband sighed and began to speak about what had accumulated in his heart.
“You know, when we got married, we had nothing. No house, no money. We slept on a creaky bed, and I drove a car that would break down. But then I had a beautiful, young wife beside me. And now we have a two-story house, expensive furniture, and a new car — but beside me is an old, fat woman. I am tired. I want to enjoy life.”
He expected his wife’s tears, screams, and reproaches. He was ready for a scene that might justify his decision. But instead, the wife looked at him calmly, even with a slight smile.
Her answer left the husband in complete shock. Continuation in the first comment
“Alright, my love,” she said confidently. “Find a younger, beautiful, well-groomed woman with a great body for yourself. I will not interfere. And I will do everything so that you no longer have this house, nor the new furniture, nor the expensive car. I will return you to that life we started from. You will sleep on the creaky bed and drive a rusty car. And my lawyer will tell you the rest.”
The husband was astonished. He did not expect such a reaction. His face turned pale, doubt flickered in his eyes.
For years — for the first time — he felt he had lost: not in business, not in life, but in a simple conversation with the woman he considered weak and predictable.
“Are… are you serious?” he stammered.
“More than ever,” replied the wife, and she walked away from him — continuing to dance alone, as if with an invisible partner.
The husband stood in the center of the room, stunned by her determination.
