For years, Alina’s dog, Bucky, had been the calmest, sweetest creature — friendly with everyone, even overly affectionate with guests. But something strange happened the day Alina’s mother-in-law, Tamara, came to visit. Tamara stayed for only two hours, drank tea, criticized the house, and left in her usual hurry. Nothing unusual… at first.
But the moment the gate closed behind Tamara, Bucky’s entire behavior changed. His ears shot up, fur bristling. He ran straight to the vegetable patch behind the shed, barking with a deep, unfamiliar growl Alina had never heard from him. Alina dropped the container, horrified. Her mother-in-law had been pressuring her for months about her weight, her lifestyle, her diet — always masked as “concern.” But this… this was an entirely different level.
