During a baggage inspection, an officer noticed something strange on the scanner in an elderly woman’s suitcase and ordered it to be opened. What they found inside shocked everyone 
The grandmother looked tired but kind. At passport control, she quietly explained that she was flying to visit her grandchildren for the winter — she hadn’t seen them in a long time, missed them, and decided to visit. After checking her documents, she calmly rolled her old gray suitcase to the inspection belt.
A security officer, a young man in uniform, was carefully watching the scanner monitor. He yawned, letting suitcase after suitcase pass, until he suddenly noticed something strange on the screen: inside one of them was… something unusual.
— Wait a second… — he muttered, squinting. — What is that?..
He lifted his head, and his eyes stopped on the elderly woman in a checkered headscarf — the owner of the strange suitcase.
— Ma’am, what are you carrying?
— Oh, nothing special, — she answered softly. — Just gifts for my grandchildren.
— Ma’am, — the officer frowned, — I can see you’re lying. What’s inside?
The woman lowered her eyes. Her hands began to tremble. She was afraid of something.
— There’s nothing there… I told you…
— Then I’ll have to open the suitcase, — the officer said firmly.
— You have no right! I won’t tell you the code — she exclaimed.
But it was already too late. The officer took out pliers, snapped the lock, the suitcase popped open — and everyone around froze.

Inside were three live chickens. Next to them was a handful of grain and an old cloth the grandmother had apparently used to cover them during the trip. One chicken clucked quietly, another tried to climb out.
— These are… live chickens, — the officer said in shock.
— Yes, — the grandmother replied calmly. — I told you, I’m bringing gifts to my grandchildren.
— Ma’am, you know transporting animals without documents is prohibited!
The grandmother sighed heavily.
— I just wanted my grandchildren to eat fresh soup. Everything is expensive there, and I raised these chickens myself, they’re good, home-raised…
The officer didn’t know what to say. He looked at his colleague — the colleague only shrugged. After a short discussion, the head of security decided that the chickens had to be sent to the airport’s veterinary service, and a protocol had to be filed for the grandmother.
As the officers gently removed the chickens from the suitcase, the old woman cried.

The officer answered softly:
